Arthur F. Dias Landing Update

All dock floats associated with the Town Pier and launch ramps at the Dias Landing located at 75 Gulf Road have been installed for normal seasonal use.

Season launch/parking permits are available for $60 each at only the Town Collector’s Office at Dartmouth Town Hall.  Daily use permits are available at the orange box at the launch ramps for $7.00 per day.  A permit is required to launch and/or to park in that facility.

Arthur F. Dias Float Update

To protect the dock floats associated with the Town Pier and Launch Ramps at the Dias Landing located at 75 Gulf Road from winter weather and ice, all floats and gangways attached to that facility will be removed on November 19, 2020.  These floats will be stored in the facility parking area until the spring of 2021.

The ramps and pier will remain open for use at the discretion and sole risk of individual mariners.

Pumpout Service Ends

All Pumpout services in Dartmouth will end at noon on November 17, 2020 and all equipment will be winterized due to the predicted freezing temperatures. This closure includes the on demand harbor Pumpout service as well as the shoreside pumpout equipment at the Maritime center. We look forward to seeing you again next season.

Pumpout Service during COVID-19

Our pumpout service is up and running again. This service was temporarily suspended while we addressed the safety of our staff and the boating public. We have learned that the Coronavirus may be transmitted through aerosolized sewage emitted from our vessel tank vent. COVID-19 can be transmitted through sewerage systems. SARS, a similar coronavirus, has been detected in untreated sewage for up to 2 to 14 days.

Please see the attached Update on Pumpout Protocols during Covid-19 HERE.

Seeking Input on Dias Landing Study

Feasibility Study for a Marina/Docking Facility at the Arthur F. Dias Town Landing in Dartmouth, MA

The Dartmouth Waterways Management Commission is in the preliminary stages of a proposal to expand the usage of the Arthur F. Dias Landing site through the establishment of a small boat marina.  The scope of the marina has not yet been determined—it could range from an expansion of the existing pier for dinghy dockage to a new structure hosting up to approximately 25 shallow-draft vessels of up to 25’ length.
The Urban Harbors Institute from UMass Boston (who worked with the Town to develop the Padanaram Harbor Management Plan adopted by the Town in June of 2019) has been contracted to conduct a feasibility study for the proposed expanded usage.  This will involve an assessment of public and user group interest in such an expansion; financial, regulatory, environmental, and public access aspects; and overall management of the facility.

As part of the initial planning process, the Town is seeking the public’s input.  We invite you to provide your thoughts by taking this short (5-10 minute) survey.  Please share this survey with others who might also be interested in submitting their comments.

The public engagement process for community planning normally features public meetings, which—due to public health concerns—are not possible at this time.  We hope everyone will take this opportunity to provide their initial views now through this survey and then join us at meetings to be scheduled when conditions allow.
